A bit more about the event:

The Academies Show is the leading event which provides the latest information and practical advice to maintained schools considering conversion, schools in the process of conversion, established Academies and aspiring sponsors.

As of 1 August 2013 there are 3,086 academies open in England. The government hopes that eventually, all remaining primary and secondary schools will also choose to convert to academy status and take advantage of the freedoms it offers, reshaping the UK education landscape as a result.

However, converting and successfully running a school outside of local authority control requires extensive preparation and major change. Academies have the responsibility to manage their finances, legal and HR processes as well as school facilities, buildings and grounds. Any converting school will need all the advice and support they can get to reach their goal with the minimum degree of disruption and enable them to thrive.

We encourage you to explore these pages to find out what you will be able to benefit from on the day, however, in brief, this important conference and exhibition is specifically focussed on:

  • Converting, setting up, funding and managing Academies
  • Critical issues to consider for Sponsored Academies and Sponsors, including funding and collaboration
  • Raising education standards and improving results
  • Setting HR policies and recruitment processes, including pay and staff conditions
  • Complying with complex legal and property requirements
  • Building an environment which inspires and supports young people to succeed
  • Facilitating good working relationships with stakeholders including local authorities
  •  Creating a curriculum in line with highest international standards
  • Promoting staff and pupil engagement
  • Championing innovative thinking
  • Increasing cost-efficiency and productivity
  • Working with suppliers to identify and implement the right products and services to support schools through every stage of the process

If you are a headteacher, governor, finance director or bursar, a local authority education leader or anyone else with a serious interest in the Academies Programme and regardless of whether you have already converted, looking to convert or simply fact finding for the future, The Academies Show Birmingham will provide you with a wealth of relevant, valuable and FREE insights, discussions and practical advice.
