The Olympics have taken all the headlines this month, and the sporting-fever is spreading across the nation – especially here in the North East, where our athletes were visiting Gateshead International Stadium for the 'Olympians: I Am Team GB' event.

AV Works were asked to install temporary sound reinforcement systems across the stadium, giving coverage to public areas, trackside, starting positions and external venue sites. These systems were used to relay live announcements and music to visitors, athletes, officials and event stakeholders. In conjunction with best practice for larger scale public events, we integrated an override microphone system and backup power generation in case of emergency.

There are some fantastic new building developments coming to completion as part of the North East coastline regeneration. One of which being The Word, a new library and national centre for the spoken word, due to open October 2016 in South Shields.

We were commissioned to undertake subcontract work for creative technology company LamasaTech, to support installation of their interactive hardware and software solutions. This project comprised of the following:

  • Delivery & installation of 2 x 55” touchscreen tables

  • Installation of 6 x 19” bespoke drawing tablet screens

  • Installation of 2 x 42” touchscreens with electric wall lifts

  • Installation of AV, network and power infrastructure

  • Configuration of network and control hardware

Also in partnership with LamasaTech, we were asked to oversee the installation of three interactive kiosks for Northumbria University. The touchscreen kiosks provide students with campus maps, event information, staff directories and a sign-in system.

The kiosk hardware was created bespoke for Northumbria University - featuring logo branding, built-in ID card reader and an intercom linked to their onsite security. Future plans are underway for additional kiosks to cover the high-traffic locations around the University's Newcastle upon Tyne campus.

Other projects sucessfully completed by our technical installation team this month include a Projector system refresh at Redcar Academy and a new TV & aerial system for Brigham & Cowen.

We'll be back with more project updates next month. In the meantime, if you'd like to speak with us regarding a project of your own, please get in touch.
